Proper Cooling system design with adequate backup is essential in maintaining the integrity of data centers. Thermal Energy Storage (TES) is a key component in overcoming the potential effects of cooling failure due to power loss or any other failure in Datacentres. The chilled water from chillers are stored in insulated tanks. This stored, cooled water is then used for space conditioning during times of primary chiller down time due to temporary power loss. TES Tank has internal flow diffusers to avoid mixing of hot and cold water inside the tank during discharging and charging cycle. TES is a form of storage that can be either a pressurized ASME vessel or atmospheric storage tank (AWWA D100 or API650).
Surge vessels (surge tanks) are important component in a water piping system that can reduce the maintenance costs and issues in system. Inadequate surge protection in piping systems can cause pipe bursts, structural damage, negative pressure and undesired water wastage. Negative pressure in water supply systems directly invite the risk of water contamination. A surge vessel or water hammer arrestor is a vessel installed in the piping system to absorb sudden increase in pressure or to quickly provide extra water during sudden drop in pressure.
